girls night out

The girls and I went out tonight to Cracker Barrel for a "coffee" night out (of course we ended up getting caramel sundaes - yum!) and had a blast. It was really enjoyable getting to talk to them. Moriah was quieter than her sister but she was really the moving force behind my holding to my promise of taking them out one Sunday evening. She wanted to go play checkers bu we decided to talk instead. She dressed up in her princess dress and fancy sandals and a pretty head band - she looked so cute! She talked more about how much she missed Sarah and hoped we'd move to Idaho. I didn't tell her there are no IHS facilities there - it didn't matter.
Cait on the other hand had lots to say about the new book her dad and I got her for her birthday, Do Hard Things - a teen rebellion against low expectations. I admire her passion and drive to make a difference now reather than later. I've even been rethinking what to do with her schooling next year. I want her to have time to pursue these interests, this desire to be a world changer - I mean of course we'd stick with the Math, History, Science, Logic, and Bible... but how practical is Latin? She wants to learn French... Am I so hung up on Latin for a pride thing (WE do Latin, or Look how she blew her SAT scores out of the water because of her Latin - again a pride thing for me). I think her heart's passions and gifts are from God and I don't want to squander them or teach her to.
It was a great evening to reconnect with my girls. I need to do the same with the boys next time.

Now to see if CM is online!
