It has certainly been quite a long time since I'ver written anything - so much for new resolutions! It has been a wonderful journey these last many weeks with a new attitude, a new committment to exercise and eating, a wonderful trip to a favorite, old stand-by and a new Bible sudy to get closer to my Maker. I've been busy, but that's not why I haven't written in more than a month. That was sheer laziness.
I am most of the way through "Lord, Change My Attitude" and what an amazing journey it's been! Seeing my attitude, my complaints, my dissatisfaction, my criticisms the way God sees them was disgusting to say the least and caused me some major re-evaluations on who I really am. After the heavy conviction and wonderful feeling of forgiveness that comes with repentance, it hasn't always been as easy but has been so worth it. I smile more now, engage my children and husband with a true and sincere and selflessness I haven't had in a long time and when I can walk away from the temptation to fall back into the old, complaining 'me', I just sing with praises to my God! Oh, He is so good!
I've been much more faithful with eating healthier food but not getting crazy about 'calories' or that sort of thing (relapse into my anorexic bulimic days) and have worked out at least 5, but more often 6, days a week. I'm still doing weight watchers and seeing results. Interestingly, the weight is coming off slower than it did 3 years ago - could it be because I've crossed over into my 40's? No matter, but it is incentive to make this the permanent time I lose weight - can't imagine what it would be like when I'm in my 50's!! I've gotten back into racquetball and remember why it was such a favorite sport of mine in high school and college. I mentioned it to my good friend and it has suddenly grown to almost a crowd it seems, which makes it more fun. Maybe we'll eventually get a church team going, eh?
We went to Alabama for a lovely, sunny week on the beach with Gramma Yale and Grampa Tom. Morning devotions to the sounds of breaking surf and the smell of the breeze coming off the water is amazing and with fresh coffee in hand, I got spoiled. I did get my schedule planned out for life the rest of the year - school, babysitting, etc at least - and that was good. That was one of my goals. Plus, just hanging with the kids talking and laughing was enjoyable. We got to see my dad and Tracy - great time, but too short - and visit with my mom, seeing some of the places she likes to hang out and also see some cool museums. I could really see, for the first time, how much my mom is hurting and how hard she is working to fill the emptiness. But that's another blog!
We got home and shortly afterward Sam broke his arm but it is healing well and he shouldn't miss out on too much this summer. I fell through the attic floor - clumsy me! - but God allowed only so far and no further and so I've no broken bones, only bruises and sore muscles and a healthier respect for attic flooring!
I've started my first (in a long time) precepts study on the Beatitudes and so far it looks very promising. I am in the Spring of life - physically and Spiritually speaking and its great!
